The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Díaz-Canel receives Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry
First Vice President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received the Honorable Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, this Monday, October 30, who traveled to the island leading a large delegation of businesspeople participating in the 35th edition of the Havana International Trade Fair.

FIHAV 2017 open to the world
The 35th edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2017) begins today in the country’s largest fairgrounds, Expocuba, with 25 pavilions hosting exhibitors. Prensa Latina reports that attending are close to 3,000 international entities, 37 delegations from Cuba’s trade partners, 19 led by ministries, and 50 chambers of commerce and promoters of world trade, along with 300 domestic companies and institutions from all branches of the economy.

The third day of Havana’s International Trade Fair featured the announcement of options for integrated exports of products and services in the healthcare and sustainable food processing sectors. ETECSA and U.S. firm Sprint sign first direct roaming agreement
One of the key moments of the first day of the 33rd Havana International Trade Fair, Fihav 2015, was the signing of the first agreement between the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) and Sprint Communications Company LP., of the United States, to provide customers of this U.S. company with the possibility of making and receiving calls and text messages and transmitting data, when using their cell phones in Cuba.

Promoting bilateral trade
Yesterday, October 22, the Vice President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, stated that no other country has contributed more to Africa than Cuba, and highlighted the solid foundations on which relations between Havana and Pretoria have been constructed.
Ramaphosa who arrived on the island October 22, on an official visit to the country, inaugurated the Cuba-South Africa business forum.

Commerce and Credit Bank supports self-employed workers
Cuba’s Commerce and Credit Bank(Bandec) has provided the greatest amount of financing for self-employed workers since the adoption of Cuba’s new credit policy in 2011, with more than 30 million pesos granted in the form of loans. However, beneficiaries represent barley 5% of the close to half a million self employed workers registered in the country, reported Idayvis Pernas, representative of Bandec’sbusiness department to AIN.
