The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Civil Defense issues early warning on tropical depression nine

The National Civil Defense Staff reports that, according to the information from the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology in its warning of tropical cyclone No 2 on Tropical Depression No 9 of the current cyclonic season, the forecast models indicate a high probability of organization and intensification of this hydrometeorological event during the approach to the western and central regions of the country, being able to reach the category of hurricane.

Body of missing underwater fisherman found in Matanzas

The Civil Defense in the province of Matanzas confirmed the rescue of the body of Hensley Boza, 19 years old and a resident of the provincial capital, after he perished near the coast of the bay while practicing underwater fishing. Lieutenant Colonel William González Hernández, head of the Civil Defense in Matanzas, explained to TV Yumurí that around one in the afternoon last Monday, the young man along with his girlfriend was near the coast where they practiced underwater fishing.

National Defense Council Informational Report

As is known, September 7-10, the country was impacted by the powerful Hurricane Irma, which caused severe coastal flooding, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, principally in the north of the island from Camagüey to Artemisa. The provinces most affected were Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara. Others such as Guantánamo, Holguín, Las Tunas, Cienfuegos, Matanzas, Mayabeque, and La Habana also suffered damage.

Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Cuba’s Central Region
Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, May 25 (Prensa Latina) Heavy rain battering the central province of Santi Spiritus have caused flooding, landslides, and evacuation of thousands of people
