First eight companies in Mariel Special Development Zone introduced

Luis Alberto González, President de Richmeat, is a Mexican meat processing company with a 15-year history in Cuba, explained that their factory in Mariel will process 1,000 tons a month and will hire 25-45 Cuban workers. The plant will begin operations with meat imported from Mexico, but the plan is to move toward acquiring it from Cuban ranchers.

Fihav 2015 underway

Yesterday, November 2, Rodrigo Malmierca inaugurated the 33rd edition of the Havana International Trade Fair, Fihav 2015, with expectations that it will serve to promote exports of Cuban products and services, as well as foreign investment in the country. Ricardo Cabrisas, a Council of Ministers vice president, was also on hand for the inauguration.

ETECSA and U.S. firm Sprint sign first direct roaming agreement

One of the key moments of the first day of the 33rd Havana International Trade Fair, Fihav 2015, was the signing of the first agreement between the Telecommunications Company of Cuba (ETECSA) and Sprint Communications Company LP., of the United States, to provide customers of this U.S. company with the possibility of making and receiving calls and text messages and transmitting data, when using their cell phones in Cuba.

Fihav 2015 welcomes international participation

The 33rd edition of Havana’s International Trade Fair, Fihav 2015, opens its doors today and will continue through November 7, at the city’s main fairgrounds and exposition center, Expocuba. More than 70 countries have representatives participating this year, utilizing more than 20,000 square meters of exposition space for their displays.

With the aim of promoting Cuban exports and the presentation of the second version of the island’s portfolio of foreign investment opportunities, the 33rd edition of the Havana International Trade Fair – Fihav 2015, will take place from November 2-7 in the Expocuba exhibition centre. Speaking at a press conference on October 12, Rodrigo Malmierca, minister of Foreign Trade and Investment stated that companies from more than 70 countries will participate in the event taking place over a 20,000 square meter exposition space, greater than that of last year’s edition.

Lebanese Business People Travel to Cuba Eager of Trade Ties

Lebanese business people traveled today to Cuba very optimist of expanding trade horizons during official meetings and an economic forum that will be used prior their participation, for the first time, at the Havana International Fair. The delegation, comprised of members of the Lebanese-Cuban Business Council (LCBC), was bid farewell in Beirut by the Caribbean nation’s ambassador here, Rene Ceballo, who wished them fruitful contacts with their peers.
