ACS Foreign Ministers meet today

reunion CaribeAccording to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, this Friday, June 3, Foreign Ministers from Association of Caribbean States (ACS) member countries will review documents discussed yesterday by senior officials in a meeting characterized by broad discussion and the search for consensus.

The key documents, which include the Declaration of Havana and 2016-2018 Action Plan, should be approved tomorrow, Saturday, June 4, by participating heads of state and government, during the High Level Segment of the 7th ACS Summit.

Both documents will give continuity to those ratified three years ago in the organization’s last Summit, held in Pétion Ville, Haiti, April 2013.

The Action Plan that year included topics such as sustainable tourism, the development of international trade and economic relations through the promotion of small and medium-size businesses in the region, and women’s empowerment in the sector, as well as the strengthening of the Caribbean Development Bank.

The document also proposes greater cooperation in disaster preparedness, among other issues.
