Cuban First Vice President Meets Palestinian Foreign Minister

ryadcubapalestinoCuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel met on Saturday with Riad al-Malki, foreign minister of the Palestinian National Authority, who is on an official visit to the island.

According to a report from the national television, during the fraternal meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their willingness to continue working on strengthening bilateral relations, and discussed other issues on the international agenda.

Cuba reaffirmed its support for the recognition and exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister Al-Malki thanked Cuba for its permanent and effective solidarity with the cause of the Arab nation.

Akram Mohammad Rashid Samhan, ambassador of the State of Palestine in Cuba, and other members of his delegation, accompanied the visitor.

On the Cuban side, Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, and Orlando Requeijo, director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting.

During his stay in Havana, Al-Malki will also meet with his Cuban peer, Bruno Rodriguez, and will participate in other events.

On Saturday, the Palestinian foreign minister paid tribute the nationalist leader Yasser Arafat, who died in 2004.
