A catalog of 20 titles will be presented by Ediciones Matanzas in the 25th International Book Fair, which will begin in Havana on February 11.
Jacqueline Mendez, promoter of that publishing house, said to Prensa Latina that the new works include essays, fiction, poetry and literature for children and young people.
Mendez mentioned the books El sueño de Endimión, by Alberto Garrandes; Doce plantas bajo el sol, written by Aristides Vega; Trillos, precipicios, convivencias, by Alfredo Zaldivar, and En clave de niños, by Rene Fernandez.
This edition of the book fair will take place in Matanzas from March 9 to 13. Uruguay is the guest country and the book fair is dedicated to the Cuban writers Lina de Feria and Rogelio Martinez Fure.
Mendez said the first issue of 2016 of the Matanzas magazine will have as main topic the Uruguayan literature and is included the unpublished short story ‘Los peldaños del hombre’ by Daniel Chavarria.
‘The magazine also includes a dossier of Eduardo Galeano, and a selection of poems by Idea Vilarino, Delmira Agustina, Cristina Peri Rossi, Ida Vital and Paula Elonder’, the specialist added.
Mendez said that during the 2016 edition of the book fair in Matanzas will be organized conferences on the Spanish picaresque and its influence in Latin American literature, and about the visions on literature for children and young people worldwide.
Among the special guests are included the Brazilian Alex Castro, a specialist in slavery topics; and poets Christian Gomez (Chile) and Eduardo Chirino (Peru).
As part of the program, the park La Libertad will host circus and street theater performances.
