First Vice President meets with senior UN official

Diaz y UNUPCuban First Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel, received Helen Clark, administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), on a work visit to the island.

According to Prensa Latina, during the meeting Clark expressed her pleasure to be accompanying Cuba in the process of updating its economic model and reiterated the UNDP’s willingness to continue offering all possible support to the island in the sphere of cooperation.

Likewise, both parties discussed issues of mutual interest related to South-South cooperation, in which Cuba continues to play a key role.
Also present at the meeting were UN Director of Regional Bureau for Latin Americaandthe Caribbean, Jessica Faieta; UNDP Resident Coordinator in Cuba, Myrta Kaulard, and Claudio Tomasi, assistant representative of the UNDP in Cuba.

Participating on the Cuban side were Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrígo Malmierca and Acting DirectorofInternational Economic Organizations of the same ministry, William Díaz.
