Obama Increases Lead in Popular Votes

Washington, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) President Barack Obama increased today to 59.7 million the popular votes in his favor, expanding the lead over Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the November 6 elections.

That figure also indicates that Obama won in 26 of the 50 states of the Union, and accumulates 303 electoral votes with 97 percent of counted ballots, according to preliminary data provided by CNN.

Obama now leads popular vote by 2.6 million over Romney. The latter won support of about 57.1 million people.

The red party candidate won in 24 territories and obtained 206 electoral votes.

Romney acknowledged on Tuesday night his defeat in this presidential election, and called for reconciliation among political forces of the country after the end of the race, described by analysts and the media as the most expensive and aggressive in the history of the northern country.
