The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba Defeats Holland 4-1 in Rotterdam
Coming off an embarrassing loss to Curacao on Friday, Cuba defeated the much tougher host Holland team on Sunday, by a score of 4-1 at the World Port Baseball Tournament in Rotterdam. Yadier Pedroso pitched a complete game allowing scattering five hits and striking out nine. He lost a shutout bid when Holland scored a lone run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

NATO Planes Bomb West Libya
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization stepped up its air raids against western Libya, after attacking two civilian checkpoints in Khoms and the town of Nalut, and losing an unmanned helicopter near Zlitan. NATO planes and helicopters increased their incursions in support backing the armed uprising against Muammar Gaddafi, according to JANA news agency and Al Jamahiriya state television.

Cuban Ballet on New York Stages
The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) is scheduled to perform Wednesday at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where it will give four shows after a brief, warmly-received stay in Washington. The Cubans will kick off their Brooklyn performances with “La magia de la danza” (the magic of dance), a show that is like an anthology of relevant moments of 19th century dance, including versions of classics like Giselle, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty and the Gottschalk Symphony.

Every year, the people celebrate the birthday of Gerardo Hernandez, one of the five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons. “Cuba defends its sovereignty with honorable men like anti-terrorist fighter Gerardo Hernandez, who on his 46th birthday today is being unfairly held in a U.S. prison for warning Cuba of subversive plans hatched in south Florida,” Juan Miguel Diaz, chief of orthopedic services at Calixto Garcia Hospital, told Prensa Latina. “Gerardo has been in jail since 1998, far from his relatives and his homeland, but his incarceration will not break this upright fighter,” said Diaz, who has served on several internationalist brigades in African countries.
