The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

For the first time ever, Cuban baseball out of Olympic competition
Cuba, once again, was defeated by Canada. The national team had a chance against the northerners, just as was the case against Venezuela, but came up short in attention to the details, that count big-time in baseball. There were too many mistakes for a game of vital importance: The opening pitcher failed again and was replaced in the first inning.

Díaz-Canel receives Argentine Minister of Health
First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on the morning of May 29, received Dr. Carla Vizzotti, Minister of Health of the Republic of Argentina. Dr. Vizzotti, accompanied by Cecilia Nicolini, special advisor to the Argentine Presidency, made a working visit to our country.

Politicization of U.S. immigration policy costs lives
“The closure of the U.S. Consulate in Havana, the transfer of services to third countries and the maintenance of the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966 threaten safe, orderly and regular migration,” the Foreign Minister stated, in a clear allusion to the causes that lead to regrettable events such as the recent rescue of eight persons and the recovery of two bodies following the sinking of their boat near Key West, Florida.

The Party increasingly involved in all processes

Science and public policy to address instances of inequity based on skin color
Nicolás Guillén Foundation and the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists’ José Antonio Aponte Commission propose concrete actions to end the persistence of discriminatory attitudes within our society. A conception of a comprehensive affirmative approach to overcoming disparities in equity based on skin color should contribute substantively to the formulation of public policies that will play a role in the National Program against Racism and Racial Discrimination.

Nachito Herrera, homeland and music
The pianist combines traditional Cuban styles, especially the rhythms of montunos and tumbaos, with jazz and classical music. Ignacio Herrera, Nachito, is a man of bridges, linking the music of Cuba, his native country, and the United States, where he resides. But he is clear about his origins. The U.S. government, an accomplice of terrorists, accuses Cuba of terrorism
The political intolerance of an empire that has witnessed a Revolution taking place under its nose has hardened to the extent that – after 62 years of Cuba’s heroic resistance – the most fallacious and absurd arguments are deployed to justify the hostility, including accusations linking Cuba to terrorism, a scourge that the island has in fact suffered at the hands of self-confessed terrorists to whom the U.S. government has provided financing, logistics and immunity.
