More than 750 secret reports disclosed by Wikileaks have confirmed abuses committed by the United States in the prison on the illegal Guantánamo base and the fact that 60% of prisoners with no links to the jihad have been taken there. The cases of the majority of the prisoners – 758 out of 779 – are described in detail in memos that the Joint Task Force in Guantánamo bay sent to the U.S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida.

One year after BP’s Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, the number of lawsuits against the oil giant continues to mount. The Gulf Coast-based law firm Brent Coon and Associates (BCA) is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on BP, and has successfully sued the oil giant in the past. BCA now represents more than 5,000 claimants from BP’s Gulf of Mexico disaster, and has been appointed by the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee to head several key sub-committees relating to discovery.

US Government has asked Federal District Court to deny Gerardo Hernandez’s Habeas Corpus Motion

The US Government has asked the District Court in Florida to deny Gerardo Hernandez’s Motion under 28 U.S.C. § 2255 to Vacate, Set Aside, or Correct Sentence and also to deny him a hearing to analyze his arguments and the so-called evidence presented against him. The official position is in a 123-page document plus three annexes filed today before the Miami federal court by Caroline Heck Miller, who is the principal prosecuting attorney against our comrade and who was also the one who refused to charge terrorist Posada Carriles in 2005. In the near future, Gerardo’s defense attorneys will file his response and Judge Joan Lenard will make her decision.

Cuba Denies Responsibility for U.S. Barge Losses

Cuba on Thursday categorically refuted statements by the U.S. company Harbor Homes LLC blaming Cuban authorities for losses from the tugboat Muheet. A statement from the Transport Ministry described as false the complaints regarding the losses of humanitarian aid on two barges that were being towed to Haiti by the tugboat. On Nov. 30, the Muheet ran out of fuel off the coast of Baracoa, Cuba, and was stranded as it awaited another tugboat for assistance promised by shipowner Caribbean Investor LLC.
