The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Scientific work by Cuban healthcare sector recognized

FIHAV 2017 open to the world
The 35th edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2017) begins today in the country’s largest fairgrounds, Expocuba, with 25 pavilions hosting exhibitors. Prensa Latina reports that attending are close to 3,000 international entities, 37 delegations from Cuba’s trade partners, 19 led by ministries, and 50 chambers of commerce and promoters of world trade, along with 300 domestic companies and institutions from all branches of the economy.

Cuba announces new migratory regulations
New regulations announced October 28 incorporate suggestions made by Cubans residing in the United States and other countries. As part of the continuous, irreversible process of updating the country’s migratory policies, the Cuban government has approved the following measures, which will take effect January 1, 2018.

Alleged sonic attacks
This past February 17, the State Department and the U.S. embassy in Havana, reported, for the first time, to Cuba’s Foreign Ministry and diplomatic mission in Washington, the alleged occurrence of sonic attacks between November of 2016 and February, 2017.

Cuba and China sign agreements to promote economic and commercial ties
The documents include framework agreements for China to provide concessional lines of credit for the repair and modernization of Cuba’s Electronics Industry Enterprise; an accord to expand the production of solar panels at the Ernesto Che Guevara Electronic Components Entity in Pinar del Río; and the launch of the fifth phase of the Technical Assistance for Agriculture in Cuba Project.
