The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Lucía Topolansky: If I were on the Nobel committee, I would have no doubts about the award for Cuban doctors!
Lucía Topolansky is the most voted senator in Uruguay. She was vice president of the Republic between September 2017 and February 2020, the first Uruguayan woman in that responsibility. It is a symbol of the country, and not a fashion star. Guerrilla who was imprisoned, who escaped and was imprisoned again until the end of the dictatorship; tireless social fighter until today, empowered woman in the Frente Amplio government, companion in struggle and life since her youth of former Uruguayan president Pepe Mujica.

Machado Ventura receives a delegation from the Broad Front of Uruguay
In a fraternal atmosphere, noted were the excellent relations between the FA and the PCC and between the governments of the two countries; and the two sides exchanged views on the current political situation in the region and the world; in addition to other international affairs. During the meeting, the Uruguayan party reiterated the readiness to attend the São Paulo Forum, due to take place in Cuba July 15 through 17, as a further effort to achieve Latin American unity.

Raúl receives Vice President of Uruguay
The meeting took place within a friendly atmosphere, where the two leaders noted the positive development of bilateral relations and their willingness to strengthen them. They also discussed topics on the international agenda. Participating on the Cuban side was Bruno Rodríguez Parilla, Minister of Foreign Relations.

Raúl receives José Mujica
On the evening of January 28, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received former President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and Senator José Mujica, visiting Cuba to participate in the II International Conference “With all, and for the good of all,” accompanied by his spouse, Senator Lucía Topolansky.

A festival of books and literature
Soon Havana will be immersed in literature. In just three months time, February 11-21, 2016, the 25th International Book Fair will be held, this year dedicated to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and authors Lina de Feria and Rogelio Martínez Furé. Rodolfo Nin Novoa, Foreign Minister of Uruguay, and Sergio Mautone, National Director of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Education, were in Havana to coordinate preparations prior to the event, heading a large Uruguayan delegation.
