The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

There is no room for improvisation or defeatism
Speaking during the plenary session of the National Assembly of People’s Power, July 8, President Raúl Castro Ruz, insisted, “When facing difficulties and threats, there is no room for improvisation or defeatism.” In an explication of the current economic conjuncture, Raúl commented that a June 25 Council of Ministers meeting and Party Central Committee Plenum, July 7, had both concentrated their analysis on the economy’s performance during the first half of the year.

Cuban heroes arrive in the UK for freedom tour
The Cuban anti-terrorists and heroes of the Republic of Cuba, René González and Gerardo Hernández, arrived in the UK this morning, Friday July 8, together with their families, to participate in the “Miami Five Freedom Tour” during which they will speak about their unjust imprisonment in the United States and express their gratitude for the solidarity of British activists in the struggle for their freedom.

Commissions are organized to focus on the following issues: Food and Agriculture; National Defense; Delivery of Services; Children, Youth, and the Rights of Women; International Relations; Industry, Construction, and Energy; as well as Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Environment.
