The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

El Salvador’s President to Meet Raul Castro
El Salvador’s President Salvador Sanchez Ceren will hold today in this capital officials talks with his Cuban peer Raul Castro. The Central American statesman expects today to tour the Havana-based Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. After arriving in the Caribbean island yesterday, Sanchez Ceren attended a show given by La Colmenita (the Beehive), a Cuban children’s theater company.

FARC-EP Urges to Avert War in Colombia
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People”s Army guerrila (FARC-EP) urged today to avert war in Colombia and make progress in the descalation of conflict, as they decried the bombing at the guerrila on May 21. It is urgent to comply with the mandate of the agenda for the talks for peace in Colombia regarding the solution of the issue of paramilitarism and its final dismantling.

Upon arriving in Cuba for his first official visit as President of El Salvador, yesterday May 26, Salvador Sánchez Cerén emphasized the solidarity and support shown his country by the Cuban people. He was received at Havana’s José Martí International Airport by Rogelio Sierra, Cuban deputy minister of Foreign Relations.

Syrian Senior Leader to Bring to Cuba Solidarity Message
The deputy general secretary of the Syrian Arab Socialist Baath party, al-Hilal Hilal, assured that he will carry a message of fraternity and solidarity with the Cuban people, in its visit to Cuba on Monday.
The highest party leader will arrive in Havana accompanied by Abdel Nasser al-Chaifa, member of the Regional Command of the Baath party and president of the Syria-Cuba Friendship Association and Mohsen Bilal, former Minister of Information, to meet a busy working schedule.

Salvadorian President to Pay Official Visit to Cuba
Salvadorian Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez confirmed today that President Salvador Sanchez Ceren would pay an official visit to Cuba on May 26-27 to make progress in trade and cooperation relations. The foreign minister made the announcement this morning in an interview with the radio station Cadena YSKL. Sanchez Ceren will go accompanied b y around seven ministers, who are expected to be those of Health, Education, Agriculture, Economy, Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Technical Secretariat.

Serbian President admires Cuba’s independence
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić arrived in Havana yesterday, May 18, for a two-day official visit, and was received by Rogelio Sierra, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs. Speaking to the press at José Martí International Airport, Nikolić reaffirmed the excellent relations between his country and Cuba. The first Serbian President to visit the island since the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia, Nikolić commented that he admires Cuba’s independence and that the friendship between the two countries remains strong. Prior to his election as President in 2012, the Serbian leader served as head of the Parliamentary Friendship with Cuba Group.

Venezuela Implements Measures to Confront Economic War
Venezuela has at the present more than 7,100 people´s councils for supply and production, created to confront the economic war staged by the Venezuelan right-wing, said Food minister Carlos Osorio. Cubans, Americans Compete at Havana Coastline
As part of the U.S.-Cuba regatta Havana Challenge in this capital, five Hobbie Cat 16 sailboats are competing today at the Havana coastline in an unprecedented tourist competition for 50 years.
They are very quickly and unpredictable sailboats that will allow more than a sports event, a symbol of friendship between U.S. and Cuban citizens. The arrival this weekend to this capital of the Havana Challenge regatta, in addition of being a challenge to ocean currents, foster friendship, as the organizers from both countries conceive it.
