The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Raúl sends message of congratulations to President Mohamed Abdelaziz

The President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, sent a message of congratulations to Sahrawi President Mohamed Abdelaziz, on the 40th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

Ecuador’s right wing continues to mobilize despite failure of general strike

Right wing forces, incapable of recognizing the electoral victories of popular governments, consistently resort to violent action, as is currently happening in Ecuador. After the failure of a general strike called for August 13, the opposition here launched another adventure, blocking roads – including the Pan American Highway – burning vehicles and tires, in an attempt to lay the groundwork for a coup d’etat against President Rafael Correa and the Citizens’ Revolution.

Central Act in Birán for International Youth Day

Today, some 400 young people, representing the entire country, will participate in the central act for International Youth Day, in Birán, Holguin. Delegates from the five eastern provinces and Camagüey will also hold a meeting with former members of the UJC from diverse sectors. Voluntary blood donations, productive work, a cultural gala and concerts by local artists are some of the activities scheduled to take place in the municipality of Cueto, where the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro was born on August 13, 1926.
