The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba’s President Expresses Condolences to Japan’s People, Government
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today expressed his deep regret over the deaths and damages that the worst meteorological disaster in the last 30 years left in Japan, said the Cuban embassy in the Japanese country. The Cuban head of State ‘extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of #Japan for the unfortunate loss of human life and property damage caused by torrential rains in several regions of the country,’ says the diplomatic headquarters in its Facebook account.

Cuban President Oversees Recovery in Central Provinces
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel oversaw the achievements in the recovery after May”s heavy rains in the central provinces of Villa Clara and Sancti Spiritus, local television reported today. At a meeting with local authorities in Villa Clara, where agriculture, the road infrastructure, hydric facilities and houses were seriously damaged, the president insisted on the need to carry out all tasks with high quality and a firm hand against criminal activities.

President Diaz-Canel Evaluates Recovery of Province Affected by Rains
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel evaluated the recovery of the central province of Villa Clara, affected by heavy rains left by the subtropical storm Alberto last May. During his first visit to that territory after his election as head of State three months ago, Diaz-Canel noted the repairing actions carried out on the road from Manicaragua to Topes de Collantes, and talked to the workers who work in the rehabilitation.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness today received Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel in the context of the 39th Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Heads of State of the Community of Caribbean (CARICOM).
