The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

International book fair concludes with tribute to Fidel
The conclusion of the 26th edition of the 2017 Cuba International Book Fair in this city, which has since its beginning served as special tribute to its creator and number one supporter, Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, saw the presentation by Cuban Minister of Culture Abel Prieto Jiménez of the special book, Exequias, Fidel Castro Ruz.

Books on the hill
Today is the fifth day of the 26th International Book Fair in Havana and literary activities of all kinds, and for all audiences, are taking place at the event’s main venue, the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress, and other sub-venues in the city’s Vedado neighborhood. The Fair is set to continue through February 19 in the capital and across the country’s provinces through April 16.

Olga Marta Pérez wins 2016 Nation Prize for Editing
The prize is well deserved given that Pérez is one of Cuba’s most celebrated editors. She began as a copy editor for Editorial Gente Nueva in 1980, where she worked for over nine years. According to Pérez, Gente Nueva is where she learned the fundamentals of her craft, publishing children’s books about science, history and literature, later assuming the role of director of Unión Publishing, which she maintains to date.
