The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Venezuelan airline Conviasa starts regular weekly flights to Cuba

The Venezuelan airline Conviasa began regular flights to Cuba this Sunday, with a weekly frequency, revealed an official source. The president of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services (Conviasa), Ramón Celestino Velásquez, reported through his Twitter account that the company will link Havana with the state of Falcón, in the northwest of the South American country.

Direct air routes between Cuba and Russia announced from October

Russia and Cuba from next October 1 will once again be connected by direct air routes, which will reach the poles of Varadero and Cayo Coco, the tour operator Pegas Touristik reported. The entity detailed through a statement released by the Russian Tour Operators Agency that the program of flights with tourist packages is organized in association with the airline Nordwind Airlines. He also added that the destination of the Cuban resort of Varadero will be the first to be available to vacationers from the Eurasian nation, with a frequency of four per week, on the Moscow-Varadero route served by Boeing-777-300ER aircraft, with estimated travel time of 13 hours.

Italian airline expands flights to Cuba

The Italian airline Neos is considering a new flight to the central Cuban province of Villa Clara. Mid October saw the arrival of the company’s first flight to the keys – the province’s main tourist destination – located off the region’s northern coastline, reports EFE. Onboard this first flight were some 200 Milan-based tour operators and travel agents who arrived to the province’s Abel Santamaría International Airport, interested in the quality of services and variety of tourist options offered on the island’s north-eastern keys, renowned for their virtually pristine beaches.
