The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

For Lenny
He’d suffered a terrible illness that since January had brought him to a critical and especially painful phase of his life, yet he never stopped working for even a moment. During the last months of his life, as he struggled heroically against illness and physical pain, he dedicated himself body and soul to the preparation and presentation of a Habeas Corpus appeal for Gerardo Hernández Nordelo and for Antonio Guerrero, without stopping to work on the appeals for the rest of the Five.

Cuba Categorically Rejects any attempt Whatsoever to take Advantage of the Tragic Situation created in order to Occupy Libya and Control its Oil
Statement by Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, March 1, 2011: Is the Council proposing to make some substantial contribution to eliminating the principal threat to the life of the human species which is the existence of enormous arsenals of nuclear weapons, an infinitesimal part of which, or the explosion of 100 warheads, would provoke a nuclear winter, according to irrefutable scientific evidence?

Speech delivered during the closing ceremony of the Sixth Session of the Seventh Legislature of the National People’s Power Assembly
On my way here to attend this Assembly session, when I looked at the newspaper’s date, December 18, a simple historical event immediately came to my mind. It has been exactly 54 years ever since –back then we did not expect to live for so long, due to the circumstances surrounding us- when we were part of the newly-formed Rebel Army, which are today the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Revolution in itself.

Message by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz against the Nuclear War
The use of nuclear weapons in a new war would mean the end of humanity. This was candidly foreseen by scientist Albert Einstein who was able to measure their destructive capability to generate millions of degrees of heat, which would vaporize everything within a wide radius of action. This brilliant researcher had promoted the development of this weapon so that it would not become available to the genocidal Nazi regime.

Key remarks at the 10th Meeting of the Cuba-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission
This 10th Meeting of the Cuba-Venezuela Intergovernmental Commission coincides with the fifteenth anniversary of President Chavez’s first visit to our country and his memorable meeting with Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
