Authorities Denounce Campaigns to Criminalize Venezuela


Venezuelan authorities this week denounced several campaigns from Colombia and Spain to criminalize the South American nation. According to National Assembly (Parliament)Speaker Diosdado Cabello, the fair treatment of the Colombians who cross the border to settle here is guaranteed in this country. In that regards, Cabello questioned the statements by Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin, who said that the situation in Venezuela was “difficult”, and urged to hold talks to establish a bi-national commission to analyze the cases of deportation.

AE’s Government Sends Doctors, Field Hospital to Nepal


Government and health authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday confirmed that a field hospital and a medical team had been sent to Nepal to mitigate the needs from the victims of recent earthquakes. The state-run news agency WAM quoted sources saying that the field hospital arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, last Thursday, to provide assistance to the victims of the earthquakes on April 25 and May 11.

Pope Francis, Palestinian President Call for Peace


Pope Francis and Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas met here on Saturday and reaffirmed their desire to achieve peace in Middle East. During a 20-minute meeting, the two leaders called for renewing direct talks between Israel and Palestine to find a fair and lasting solution to the more-than-60-year conflict. Since the mid 20th century, the Palestinian people have suffered the invasion and occupation of their territories by Tel Aviv, as result of which dozens of thousands people have been killed and millions have been displaced.

Venezuelan Socialist Party Braces for Primary Elections


The Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) on Saturday began the assemblies in all 87 electoral districts nationwide until May 24, in the light of the primary elections scheduled for June 28. According to the mayor of Libertador de Caracas municipality and leader of that political organization, Jorge Rodriguez, 1,162 pre-candidates to the National Assembly (Parliament) will commit in those meetings to recognizing the results to be announced by the National Electoral Council (NEC).

11th ANAP Congress starts today

Statement by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations


On Thursday, May 21, the third round of conversations between Cuba and the United States regarding the process of reestablishing diplomatic relations and the opening of embassies in both countries, will be held in Washington. Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power Instated

The country’s 168 recently elected Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power were constituted yesterday, May 13, with the investiture of delegates elected by some 7.5 million Cubans, this past April 19 and 26. During the inaugural sessions, the assemblies elected their presidents and vice presidents by secret ballot, to serve a two and a half year term. Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly attended the investiture in the Havana municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, and commented that congratulations were in order for all the local electoral commissions which conducted the elections.

Over Eight Thousand 300 Killed by the Two Earthquakes in Nepal


The death toll from Tuesday”s quake in Nepal amounted to 96 today, bringing the total of deaths by two earthquakes in less than three weeks passed eight thousand 300. Chinese President Meets India”s Prime Minister


Chinese President Xi Jinping wished today a happy stay to India”s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his home province of Shaanxi, where he was welcomed with honors in an unusual gesture of the local protocol. The Chinese leader said this is the first time that he has received a foreign statesman in his birthplace, after welcoming Modi in the ancient city of Xi’an.
