The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cubans react with solidarity and determination, supporting government measures to mitigate impact of U.S. hostility
Beginning his remarks yesterday evening, during another appearance on Cuban television, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez thanked the Cuban people for their support of government measures, contributions, and solidarity amidst the country’s tense energy situation, which, he said, are much more important that a tanker of diesel.

Twitter suspends Granma’s account and those of other Cuban media
The suspension notification does not state the reason why the @Granma_Digital account was disabled, and although efforts have been made to reactivate it, no action has been successful. Editors and administrators of various media in Cuba, such as Cubadebate, Mesa Redonda, the Caribe television broadcaster, and Radio Rebelde, have also reported on Facebook and other channels, the suspension of their Twitter accounts without cause.

Díaz-Canel receives high-ranking leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam
The President of Cuba´s Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on Tuesday afternoon received Hoang Trung Hai, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and secretary of the Party in Hanoi, invited by the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee. During his stay he will complete a full agenda of activities, including meetings with leaders of the Party and mass organizations, as well as visits to sites of historical and socio-economic interest.

When most people in Bayamo were still asleep early Sunday morning, September 1, the young doctor Zoila Verdecia left home in her white coat, on the way to one more shift in the emergency room.“I left Samuelito, asleep, out cold. School starts tomorrow, and there’s still a lot to do. Any clothes were fine at the childcare center, but now in preschool, there’s the uniform, the backpack, notebook covers. When I arrive, whatever time it is, I’ll take care of that, but for now it’s the emergency room, the health of the people can’t wait .”
