Raúl Castro receives President Diaz-Canel upon returning to Cuba

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, today received the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, upon his return to this capital after a Tour through several countries.

Diaz-Canel and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by the Cuban high leader at the bottom of the stairs of the ship where they arrived at the José Martí international airport in the capital this morning, according to a report by Granma newspaper.

On October 20, the Cuban president began a tour of Ireland, Belarus and Azerbaidzhan, where he participated in the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement,after which he made a work visit to the Russian Federation.

During the fraternal meeting, discussed were the excellent state of bilateral relations, based on the historic ties of friendship between the two peoples, and the mutual desire to strengthen political, economic-commercial and cooperation ties was reaffirmed. Several issues on the international agenda were also addressed.

The distinguished guest was accompanied by Secretary of State of the Treasury, Her Excellency Vera Davis, and Angola’s Ambassador in Havana, His Excellency José César Augusto “Kiluanji.”
Also participating on the Cuban side were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and the Foreign Ministry’s director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Gisela García Rivera.
