At the water treatment plant of the Central University Marta Abreu de Las Villas (UCLV), he confirmed that intense work is being done on her rehabilitation and improvement in the driver, to leave her ready before the restart of the school year, on September 5.

The head of the branch also appreciated the construction progress in the Cerro Calvo water treatment plant, where the water from the Agabama-Gramal system is stored and treated, which provides the vital liquid to the hospital area.

Likewise, he verified the sealing work of Colón Street and the intervened area in the Central Highway (Banda a Placetas) and Circunvalación Vieja, which were pending after the change of networks in poor condition. The conditioning of both roads will allow vehicular circulation to resume.

During his visit to Santa Clara, the INRH president visited the Cerro Calvo Water Treatment Plant, undergoing maintenance actions to deliver water to Santa Clara with higher quality. Photo: Idalia Vázquez Zerquera/Vanguard.

In statements to Vanguardia, the president of INRH commented that the visit is part of the tours that he carries out throughout the country, in order to learn about the actions that the sector undertakes in times of energy contingency, for which generator sets located in the most needy places, with the purpose of maintaining the water service to the population.

He pointed out that as part of the differentiated attention to Santa Clara, the fulfillment of the commitments contracted with the authorities of the province and the town was evaluated, and he referred to the priority that Manicaragua receives, because even when in that municipality shares in the aqueduct, its inhabitants still do not receive the expected benefits.

He said that this is a pending task that will be followed up in September, to decide the date of his intervention, in order to guarantee the service and that it lasts over time.

Prior to the tour, the INRH president held an exchange at the Provincial Government headquarters in Santa Clara, where other issues related to the need to ensure water in the sugar companies that will intervene in the next harvest were also discussed, to avoid interruptions due to this reason during the conflict, in times of energy contingency.

Despite the lack of material resources, solutions must be encouraged from the productive base, exhorted Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Cuban deputy prime minister, when verifying the progress of the repairs in the sugar mills during meetings with managers from the province of Villa Clara committed to the realization of an agro-industrial efficiency harvest.

The sector has to “work like a family, without distortions and inaccuracies, and with a different perspective on direct links between producers and service entities,” Tapia Fonseca said, when appreciating, based on information, aspects related to the mechanical hustle and bustle towards the interior of the mills, the agricultural machinery, and the automotive and rail transport that will intervene in the contest.

The deputy prime minister, accompanied by Julio Andrés García, president of the Azcuba Group, and by specialists from the sector, learned about the actions carried out in Heriberto Duquesne (Remedios), Quintín Bandera (Corralillo) and Héctor Rodríguez (Sagua la Grande), the only ones in the province that will manufacture crude oil.

In October it is estimated that the mechanical adjustments will be completed to guarantee the readiness of the industries in a discrete harvest in terms of processing volumes, but necessary for the national economy, he said.

The criteria coincided in pointing out that, despite the start-up of other plants that will process cane destined for molasses for the production of alcohol and animal feed, the strategic gear that will be established by other entities in the industry, suppliers of raw material and provision of services, is decisive. , with the three mills in campaign.

The electrical affectations that stop the mechanical adjustments, the limitations of industrial gases and accessories for welding, the adaptations of roads and railways, figured in the subjects object of analysis.

The planting of cane, agricultural yields —still far from the aspirations—, the feeding of the labor groups in sugar operations and the salary according to the productive contributions, were the object of systematic observation.

The Heriberto Duquesne plant, an entity that is moving towards a complete agro-industrial diversification, will be supplied with its own raw material and from areas belonging to its counterpart José María Pérez (Camajuaní), with which it will guarantee molasses and guarapo to the distillery, as well as crude and bagasse directed to the Chiquitico Fabregat refinery (Zulueta), in a systematic production chain.

On Saturday, in Quintín Bandera, Tapia Fonseca specified the need to “unblock the bureaucracy that exists in the sector to deliver material resources, depending on the existence, availability and needs of Villa Clara’s factories,” and directed quality repairs for mills above the 70% of the potential norm.

There they will have a reinforcement of workers from Panchito Gómez Toro, from Quemado de Güines —now in technological investment actions—, in addition to raw material and cane cutting and shooting equipment from that industry; as well as the Ifraín Alfonso (Ranchuelo) and the neighboring George Washington and Carlos Baliño (Santo Domingo), necessary to produce some 23,000 tons of raw sugar and another 28,000 of refined sugar.

In Héctor Rodríguez, with better strategic clearance in the actions to be carried out by that sugar colossus, Tapia Fonseca reiterated the need for labor groups to achieve “creative thinking, and convert agro-industrial preparations and the harvest into an effective way of seeking answers to problems that arise.”

That mill, together with the raw material from its plantations, will receive cane from areas belonging to Perucho Figueredo and Abel Santamaría (Encrucijada), entities in charge, like the others, of support in cutting and shooting equipment for collection centers and the tilter .

Vigilance in the payment for the quality of the cane, the eradication of monetary debts with the producers, and the discipline and control of agro-industrial tasks were also included in the extensive analysis, and given the economic complexities -said Tapia Fonseca-, the challenge is to carry out a harvest efficiently.

The Cuban people once again expressed their love for Ernesto Che Guevara on October 8, when over 60,000 people gathered in the square bearing his name to honor the Heroic Guerilla and his comrades in arms, on the 50th anniversary of his death.

The ceremony was attended by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba who, shortly before the ceremony, and together with other Party Political Bureau members, paid tribute to the Heroic Guerilla and the Reinforcement Detachment at the memorial erected in their honor.

The words of Fidel at the solemn wake, when he announced the sad news of Che’s death to the people of Cuba, could be heard once again, moving all in attendance:
“If we want the model of a person, the model of a human being who does not belong to our time but to the future, I say from the depths of my heart that such a model, without a single stain on his conduct, without a single stain on his action, without a single stain on his behavior, is Che! If we wish to express what we want our children to be, we must say from our very hearts as ardent revolutionaries: we want them to be like Che!”

This oath, “We will be like Che!” was then repeated by 50 elementary school children who were presented with their blue kerchiefs identifying them as members of the José Martí Pioneers Organization.

During the ceremony, ninth grade pupil Leyanis Águila, and pre-university student Sara Mary Vega, spoke on behalf of Cuba’s new generations who have grown up with the example of Che, and who have the enormous responsibility of continuing one of his greatest legacies: the Cuban Revolution.

Artists from the province also paid homage to the Heroic Guerilla, performing songs and reciting poems dedicated to Che.
Also participating in the political-cultural act were members of the Party Political Bureau, the Central Committee Secretariat, and vice presidents of the Councils of State and Ministers, as well as senior officials from the Party, government, youth and mass organizations, Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Ministry of the Interior, and others.

Relatives of Che and his compañeros in Bolivia were also present, as well as a delegation of combatants from the invading columns of the Battle of Santa Clara.

Thousands of students from across Villa Clara province will lead the traditional “Por la ruta del Che” (Che’s route) walk this Thursday, October 5, in honor of the Hero of the Battle of Santa Clara on the 50th anniversary of his death, which will be commemorated across the island this October 8.

The walk will begin at 4.00 pm at the Marta Abreu de Las Villas Central University, which served as Guevara’s command headquarters during the capture of the city of Santa Clara, and where he returned in December 1959 to receive the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in Pedagogy. It will conclude close to the Loma del Capiro, in areas of the Sandino Cultural and Recreational Complex, with a concert by trova artist Adrián Berazaín, as José Antonio Marimón Carrazana, vice rector of expansion, computerization and communication of the institution, told Granma.

The event will be attended by young people from all higher education centers of the territory, including those studying at the MININT (Ministry of the Interior) Independent Faculty; Brigadier General Luis Felipe Denis; as well as students from the province’s schools, who will pay tribute to Che’s example and ideas.

“Por la ruta del Che” is just one of many activities to be held in this province, which has the honor of guarding the remains of the Heroic Guerrilla and his fellow combatants, to mark the 50th anniversary of his death. Voluntary work tasks will also be undertaken in workplaces and institutions, as part of the recovery efforts of the territory following the devastation left by Hurricane Irma.

September 7 will see a cultural gala in Leoncio Vidal Park, while on October 16 students of the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School will perform the traditional guard of honor before the mausoleum to the combatants of the Las Villas Front.

A postage stamp commemorating the 20th anniversary of the arrival of the remains of Che and his comrades in arms to the city of Santa Clara will also be issued, while 50 students of the Ernesto Che Guevara semi-boarding school will be recognized as pioneers, in the act that will take place on the morning of October 8, in the square honored with his name.
