Damascus (Prensa Latina) The rhetoric about the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government pushes events toward a possible military aggression which, in the opinion of heads of state and political experts, could ignite the region.

After the so-called armed opposition argued the authorities had used toxic agents on August 21, a virulent campaign was unleashed by the media and some Western capitals and the Middle East against Damascus, with threats preceding an almost imminent attack.

Horns sounds increasingly hard calling for a war that, as the more recent, all of them carried out by the United States from Kosovo (1999) to Libya (2011), through Afghanistan (2001) and Iraq (2003), have been made with spurious pretexts.

Still fresh in global collective memory are the maneuvers of Collin Powell, former Secretary of State, showing at the UN plans and evidence “proving” that Saddam Hussein had available mass destruction weapons.

The invasion of Iraq was consummated and the country destroyed, but no trace of such weapons was ever found.

This is not an exception: Washington, London, Paris, Ankara, Riyadh, Doha, Ottawa, among others, report that it is unquestionable that the administration of President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons against the population and “should be punished”.

However, they avoid presenting evidence to support those objections.

The axis that seems ready to invade Syria, bypassing the authority of UN Security Council and international law, does not even take into account that in Damascus there is a group of the world body conducting inquiries about the use of toxic gases and his verdict should be listened.

Precisely the hypothetical attack took place three days after the arrival in the country of the delegation led by Professor Ake Sellstrom, head of the UN Office for the investigation of chemical weapons, invited by the government to clarify the many allegations made in advance.

Syria has expressed interest in the survey and offered its collaboration in the process, although the West tries to ignore such support.

Analysts agree that it is unrealistic and almost unbelievable that the authorities conducted such an attack in the midst of these circumstances and a few kilometers from the capital, in the region of Eastern Ghouta.

The area is a point of confrontation where Syrian Arab Army fights against mercenary bands sponsored by the West, seeking to gain control of the capital: an eventual chemical attack would be unwise for the government considering that its own forces could die.

Few also relate that the videos that went around the world and were wielded as a “proof of the atrocities of al-Assad,” were posted on social networking one day prior to the complaint, which, according to experts, reinforces that the images are a great hoax to incriminate the country.

Mass media and politicians arguing that “the Syrian government is the only actor in the armed conflict capable of unleashing a chemical attack”, seem to overlook that in this Levantine nation radical Islamic groups, within which stands Al Qaeda, have been committing atrocities against civilians from the start of the conflict.

The al-Nusra Front, a derivation from the terrorist organization led by Osama Bin Laden, has not hesitated to put car bombs, attack with mortars and rockets and to commit massacres of hundreds of civilians in the name of his orthodox interpretation of Islam and wishes to establish a caliphate.

Similarly, the extremists were involved even in cannibalistic events widely spread through social networks.

In early December 2012, a disturbing video posted on YouTube showed members of the Almighty Wind Brigade (Kateebat A Reeh Al Sarsar), one of the many mercenary groups in Syria, testing chemical weapons in laboratory rabbits and threatening to use them against Syrian civilians.

At that time several media wondered if this could be the pretext that led some governments to intervene in the Syrian conflict to overthrow al-Assad.

However, few, based on the benefit of the doubt, have questioned: Couldnt be the alleged rebels who released toxic gases to thwart the UN mission, stop the unquestioned offensive advance of Army, provide the pretext for an armed intervention and avoid sitting at the negotiating table of the proposed Geneva 2 and admit their defeat?

Another question: who are the ultimate beneficiaries in such a complex picture?

Zayed al-Tahan, member of the Quneitra Government Executive Office, in southern Syria, told local reporters that Israeli occupation authorities started a big fire on Monday afternoon which spread up to the outskirts of Hamidieh and al-Hurrieh, in the Golan area which remains under the Syrian sovereignty.

This is the seventh fire caused by Israel in less than a month, as part of Tel Aviv’s aggression policy against Golan residents, said al-Tahan.

The Syrian official also said that fires are part of a strategy to wipe out crops and destroy the biodiversity and ecosystem of the region.

Al-Tahan added that occupation authorities plunder the Golan’s wealth, steal the water, cut down the trees, and bury nuclear waste.

The Syrian army is strong and ready to defend its borders, but if we can assist them in the training sector, we will, noted Iranian Commander of Land Forces General Ahmad Reza Pourdestan.

Iran faces threats of a terrible magnitude attack by Israel, whose authorities affirm the Persian nuclear development program has military ends, in spite of the fact that inspections conducted by the International Atomic Energy Organization has found no evidence that proves the accusations.

Damascus, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) New confessions from members of armed opposition groups captured by the Syrian authorities are revealing the existence of a destabilization plan led by external actors to destroy national infrastructure and overthrow the government through terrorist actions.

Last night State television aired the second part of a special program which included confessions from captured leaders of mercenary brigades, who insisted that they had received orders from regional governments to attack urban areas and public and military facilities, as well as engage in kidnapping, torture and murder.

They explained having received money, weapons and support from the international media, besides being offered senior positions and huge salaries if they were able to overthrow the government and establish an Islamic caliphate in Syria. Similarly they argued that many young people are being coerced to join irregular gangs through the use of religion and fatwas (Islamic ordinances) to develop a Holy War or Jihad.

They make suicide bombers think they will have wealth, slaves and many women in paradise, or by contrast, they are threatened and pressure is exerted against them and their families, taking advantage of their need for work and money, the mercenaries stressed.

They also recognized that a significant percentage of so-called insurgents are followers of the ideology of the al-Qaeda terrorist network and that the entity intends to destroy the secular Syrian State at any cost in order to put an Islamic State in its place. Some witnesses confessed responsibility for terrorist attacks in various regions in exchange for large sums of money sent from abroad for each operation.

Damascus, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) UN Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi continued his contacts with different Syria political and social sectors, seeking formulas aimed at a political resolution of the crisis in this Levantine nation.

Damascus, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) UN Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi continued his contacts with different Syria political and social sectors, seeking formulas aimed at a political resolution of the crisis in this Levantine nation.

After his interview on Sunday with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, nothing more was leaked about the international envoy’s subsequent steps as he tries to accomplish halting hostilities on the occasion of the Muslim feast of the Eid al Adha sacrifice.

The UN envoy continued his efforts despite discouraging forecasts from Arab League officials and the so-called opposition abroad.

The President of the Syrian Nacional Council abroad, Abdelbaset Sieda, who does not control the armed gangs inside the country, said that so far there is nothing indicating a positive evolution of the situation, while Ahmed Ben Hilli, Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League declared that positive prospects are slim. However Brahimi continued with that purpose in mind and met here with a delegation from the National Democratic Bloc.

In this regard, the General Secretary of the National Youth Party for Justice and Development, Perwin Ibrahim, after meeting with the international envoy, said that the National Democratic Bloc had presented its view on the crisis in Syria and ways to overcome it.

During the meeting we criticized the sordid behavior of the international community that listens to internal adversaries and takes the point of view of opponents abroad who do not represent the Syrian people, calling for foreign intervention, he said.

Ibrahim stressed that the international community believes that a political solution to the crisis in Syria would only amount to some kind of agreement between the great powers, forgetting the concerns of the Syrian people.

The Secretary General of the National Solidarity Democratic Party, Salim Abdul Wahab al-Kharrat, supported attempts to find a roadmap for all national opposition forces inside Syria, unifying those forces and leading them to the negotiating table.

In this sense the General Secretary of the Democratic Union Party, Shawkat Othman, shared with Brahimi the importance of holding a national conference for dialogue among all interested parties.

Al-Shaar told Seguis that Syria is facing a terrorist offensive supported with foreign funds and weapons supplying armed groups.

Damascus, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) Syria condemned some statements by Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, during an Arab foreign ministers’ meeting held in Cairo, and described it as a blatant interference in its internal affairs.

A release from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that the Egyptian president’s words are an explicit attack to the right of this people, to elect their future away from any external interference.

The text says that Morsi showed, without doubt, he reflects the views of a group that has nothing to do with the reality of the common history that unites Syrian and Egyptian peoples.

The Egyptian president is part of the media instigation that tries to stir up violence in Syria, and therefore there is no different from other governments that support terrorist groups with money, weapons, training and shelter, and becomes a partner in Syrian bloodshed.

The ministry expressed hope that the people from the neighboring nation regain the role Egypt has played in the Arab world, so as to restore the balance currently lost in the joint Arab action.

During the opening session of the 138th regular meeting of foreign ministers of the Arab League held yesterday, Morsi said “it is too late to talk of reform, it is time for change” and urged President Bashar al-Assad to resign and requested international support for Syrian insurgents.
