<p>Objectives of the gathering announced include expanding actions calling for world peace; denouncing the establishment of military bases on all continents by powerful nations; and supporting Cuba’s demand for the return of territory illegally occupied by the U.S. Naval Base in Guantánamo.</p>
<p>Scheduled to participate are María do Socorro Gomes, president of the World Peace Council; Dr. Nancy Acosta Hernández, head of Guantánamo’s provincial government; and Edgar Ponce Iturriaga, Ecuadorian ambassador in Cuba; among other experts and activists.</p>

<p>Aware of the existence, for more than a century, of the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo, territory of the Republic of Cuba. Acting in the light of the process towards the normalization of relations between the Republic of Cuba and the United States of América, which is an element that contributes to the stability of Latin America and the Caribbean, Considers that the return to the Republic of Cuba of the territory occupied by the US Naval Base in Guantanamo, should be a relevant element of that process, through a bilateral dialogue in conformity with International Law.</p>
