Scientist Manuela Durán Rodríguez, head of communications of the national oil company Unión Cuba-Petróleo (Cupet), told Granma that issues relating to regulations and technologies for the prevention and response to oil spills will be addressed, focusing on operations in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

The event, which ends tomorrow, will also see lectures, presentations and forums on oil technologies, legislation, environmental protection, human capital preparation, mitigation procedures and tackling disasters associated with the oil industry.
