The event, organized every year by the Cuban Book Institute, has prepared a program that will start at 10 am with the awarding of the Elpidio Valdes’ films characters costumes competition and the contest ¿Quién sabe más de Elpidio Valdés?, in which the participating children should answer ten questions about the popular Cuban mambi fighter animated character.

After this, the children project Sueños para contar will offer the show Elpidio Valdés and at 12:30 pm the National Edition Award Esteban Llorach, will present the book Diccionario de autores de la Literatura Cubana, by Ramón Luis Herrera and Mirtha Estupiñán, edited by Editorial Gente Nueva publishing house, very important title for a wide public, professors, specialists, writers, university students and readers in general.

Later, at 3:00 pm, the Festival moves to the garden of the Rubén Martínez Villena Library to present the interactive space Café Dulce, leading by Solida Ríos and with gusts Ivette Vian, Mildred Hernández and Karen, from the Títeres de Matanzas project.

The Festival will close at La Maestranza Park at 4:00 pm with an oral narration show with the participation of Gertrudis Ortiz, Nubelia Leyva and Dayana Deulofeo, and the performance of several clowns.

The actor advanced that the cinematographic adaptation of Vientos de Cuaresma, detective novel form Cuban writer Leonardo Padura—directed by Spanish Félix Viscarret—is almost concluding the shooting cycle.

We still have a month of work and we will move to Canary Islands, Spain, to finish shooting the film, said the filmmaker, who is known as Pichi, and assured that the cast is wonderful that includes Cuban actor Carlos Enrique Almirante.

The also documentary director indicated that Padura is possibly the most important chronicler of all the generations that were born after the triumph of the revolution.

Perugorria assured that Padura is a writer – that although bets for the detective genre- his stories always portray the Cuban society and Mario Conde is part of that; is the picture of my generation so it is a piece of my life.

After the adaptation of Vientos de Cuaresma will follow the other three novels that made Las Cuatro Estaciones in a movie film and later will be produced three TV episodes.
