I am not aware that the term exists, perhaps we invented it today. But we use that bilingual word of the title in our podcast to summarize the judgments about a method of lying or manipulating that usually appears on the networks, to feed uncertainties. We reproduce in this podcast audios that went viral during critical moments in the country, the first of them starring an alleged biologist who condemned the Cuban government's strategy to face the COVID 19 epidemic as a massive crime.

The analyst recalled the elements that were handled in the first audio, a classic model of manipulation and use of information dissemination techniques so that the users themselves become their disseminators. The idea is to attack the government’s strategy, any step that it announces or puts into practice, trying to generate protests and refusal to execute it. For that, the presentation of the owner of the nameless voice, scientific titles are credited. In the end, the order is one: how to disseminate that (mis)information. We are going to hear that again in recent audios, which seek to terrify people about monkeypox and a non-existent epidemic of fulminating cholera that does not exist in Cuba.

The voices of the three audios are similar. Will it be the same COVID biologist? asked Barbara Betancourt, recently released from rest forced by dengue fever aggravated by numerous cormobilities and chose to tell her experiences as a patient, highlighting the way in which the early warning and protection system works for people that distinguish the work of MINSAP, in a strategy that already includes television ads during prime time.

If anything has been transparently monitored in the country, it is epidemiological issues. Every day a meeting of the working groups created to deal with COVID, which have remained activated (one for the epidemic and another for experts) in the face of the growth in dengue cases, for example. In Cuba, many resources and medicines may be and are lacking, but information and primary care are guaranteed. But to be up-to-date, you really have to search for and contrast the information in the Cuban public media.

A last alarmist audio, not related to health, but to the state of mind of the population, served as the closing of the analysis.

Created as soon as the country’s presidency and the directors of MINEM reported how they had decided to face the problem of energy generation, there the elements that seek to give credibility to the hoax, make the lie seem like the truth, are heard again. It is an old but very functional technique, even more so in the stormy sea of the internet, where anything goes and almost everything is believed. By identifying the voice as that of someone expert, giving apparently real locations, a degree of credibility is obtained in which to support the main message: “don’t believe what you have been told. There is no solution”.

In reality, we live in hard times of uncertainty and the objectivity of the problems, specifically the blackout, create the conditions for anyone to believe in anything. But there is a job, a serious, consecrated and professional job, that expects and deserves trust.

I have seen some post in the last few hours, stating that the changes in the direction of the UNE and the MINEM will solve everything at a stroke. Beware of over-enthusiasm. The official notes on the changes are clear in terms of recognizing the merits of the substituted teammates and those that those who assume these tasks will have to face. We should not expect miracles. Perhaps we should wait for a change in strategy, tactics, innovations.

The pressures under which you have worked so far have an impact on the valued colleagues who will take on other tasks. But we must not forget that the problem is not only Cuban. Many other countries, without a blockade and with unfenced finances, are also suffering from energy crises.

As was said when announcing the changes, work continues under tension, but the purpose of overcoming the current deficits as soon as possible remains. There is no exact date yet. There is a commitment. And the few resources available based on those efforts.

With millions of tax dollars, the U.S. government insists on fabricating lies to discredit Cuba and enlisting common criminals as “opponents” to attack authorities, while the vast majority of Cubans are mobilized to battle a new peak in the COVID epidemic

I could also call this short chronicle “mid-week news,” and that is why I will begin by highlighting some headlines in the Cuban press, those which go unnoticed by many agencies and media, including some that have accredited correspondents on the island.

“From the world to Matanzas: Doctors of the Henry Reeve Brigade”. The informative content of the article refers to the solidarity of our doctors, who, just as they are capable of providing help in the most remote locations of more than 100 countries, do the same in the province of Matanzas, where a peak in the pandemic has strained public health services, and strict protocols have been established to control and defeat the virus.

Let us remind those who want to exploit the presence of a new strain in the province, to advance an unethical political maneuver, that Matanzas was where the 1961 U.S. invasion at Playa Giron was defeated; boasts the country’s most important tourist resort; and has accomplished more than enough to certify the merits of its great people. In addition to the efforts of its own health workers, the expression “We are Cuba” is now becoming a concrete reality, have no doubt.

Another headline from Matanzas itself reads: “Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant synchronized to National Electric System.”

Regarding the country’s challenges in this arena, much has been fabricated on social networks and corporate media about “blackouts” in Cuba. Unfortunately, I have yet to read any real news, in these outlets, about the reasons for the difficulties at this and other power plants.

There is not a single paragraph that at least explains how difficult or impossible it is to acquire the necessary components to perform necessary and duly planned maintenance, or that reminds the world that Cuban electrical plants function with oil and derivatives which U.S. persecution denies Cuba, threatening and pressuring shippers to prevent the arrival of tankers to the island.

Another headline from the Cuban press states: “Clinical trial of Mambisa and Abdala with convalescent patients approved.”

For those in the neighboring empire that wants to destroy us, who do not know the meaning of these names, I limit myself to reminding them that they are two of Cuba’s five anti-Covid candidate vaccines, one of which, Abdala, has already been recognized as a vaccine.

This is only a part of what the country, its scientists, its health workers and government are doing, in daily efforts to guarantee the health of an entire people – including so-called opponents.

This, whether the neighbors to the North like it or not, is the life that continues in our country, life which they have attempted to deny is, delivering death with barbaric acts perpetrated over these 60 years, among them a genocidal blockade, military threats and invasions and attacks of all kinds, and sanctions that in the midst of a pandemic become the most criminal of actions taken by United States governments.

Within their territory, with millions of tax dollars, they insist on fabricating so-called “opponents” in most cases enlisting common criminals, repeat offenders of the law, unscrupulous individuals who attack authorities and the people with knives, stones, sticks and whatever they find in their path.

They call “opponents” those who break windows and doors at shopping centers, steal merchandise and destroy cars belonging to state institutions, as well as privately owned vehicles; insult and assault police officers, assault and attempt to damage institutional buildings and streets, among many other violent acts, violating the law and order, and challenging the stability and security of their fellow citizens.

It is curious, as well as repulsive, to see the festive use they make of their cell phones to record their acts of “opposition.”

And then, they are apparently so ignorant they do not realize that the same images they desperately upload to the internet provide the evidence to identify violators of the law and allow Cuba’s courts of justice to call them to responsible for their actions.
It is also repugnant that those who “hire” them for these “opposition” maneuvers offer them a few dollars for their contribution to overthrowing the “Cuban regime.” They become cheap mercenaries, and many of them, real terrorists.

I am sure that our people know how to identify them and have full confidence that our justice system will hold them accountable for these criminal acts, with the aggravating factors of their contribution to disseminating media slanders n the midst of a pandemic and promoting its proliferation.

I doubt they will continue to be called only “opponents” in court.

On January 13, Cuban television once again denounced a number of actions that are part of the so-called soft coup strategy the U.S. government is attempting to implement in our country.

After having failed for decades in its efforts to destroy the Revolution, the northern neighbor is resorting to new methods in its obsessive fixation on changing the course that Cuba sovereignly chose long ago.

Nonetheless, as President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez recently commented on his Twitter account, this is “an old imported script with new actors.”

The television program referred to an article published on the Cubadebate website by the young media analyst Javier Gómez Sánchez, under the title “The ideologues of the soft coup: Open Society in Cuba and the Counterrevolutionary Articulation.”

The text points out, “The aggressiveness shown during the Donald Trump administration’s term in office, and the positioning of a discourse against the Revolution, by intentionally repulsive media actors, were part of the plan and not an accident apart. A counterrevolution that comes across as irrational and disgusting is being promoted, in contrast to which the neo-counterrevolution can be presented as an alternative, and seen by Cubans as something preferable.”

Within this worn out counterrevolution, with no agenda of its own, violent and without social roots, characters such as Berta Soler and José Daniel Ferrer are known actors. The former is an individual with a long history of provocations backed by money from the Cuban American National Foundation in Florida. The television program notes that the lack of effectiveness of her efforts has taken its toll, and the funding she receives has been reduced. She has even been accused of using the money to cover personal expenses and not to wage an alleged “Cuban cause.”

Ferrer could be defined as a common criminal, with a long police record, promoter of counter-revolutionary actions, a supposed leader fabricated to attract international recognition. The Cuban people will surely remember a video, broadcast some time ago, showing him repeatedly banging his own head on a table, to later accuse an Interior Ministry officer of assaulting him.

In the same vein, other characters associated with this marginal, violent section of the counterrevolution include such figures as Luis Manuel Otero, who has devoted himself to creating grotesque pseudo-artistic works, desecrating revolutionary values and patriotic symbols, bordering again and again on illegality.

The Cuban television news program reports that also among these small-time “actors” is Maykel Osorbo, who is constantly calling for violence, disrespect and disorder on social media, even advocating a U.S. invasion of Cuba.

Likewise, Denis Solis, whose aggressive and socially reprehensible conduct led to his conviction and imprisonment for contempt of authority, has positioned himself as the center of efforts to mobilize sentiment against supposed repression in the San Isidro farce.
Photo: Granma

Outside Cuba, the counterrevolution is managed by other individuals. During the Trump administration, their actions in the United States were carried out with the complicity, or at least silence, of authorities in that country. Yamila Betancourt, for example, is a promoter of terrorism in Cuba, openly paying for vandalism on the island, using social networks to call for crude, disrespectful acts.

Under the pseudonym of Ultrack, another representative of the counterrevolution, active on social media, seeks to transfer the aggressiveness of his language to the Cuban reality, that is, onto our streets.

Alexander Otaola initially attracted an audience and followers, addressing issues related to artists and show business, and then clearly defining his aggressive anti-Cuban position, inciting a social explosion on the island with disobedience and chaos.

Functioning simultaneously alongside these advocates of aggression against Cuba is another version of the counterrevolution, the article by Gómez notes. The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is sponsoring a new or neo counterrevolution that seeks to establish itself as the less repulsive alternative, to become the option accepted by to the people.

Among those functioning along these lines is Tania Bruguera, a person who via her symbolic artistic constructions seeks benefits and positioning, with some of her actions approaching illegality, including her organization of a provocation in Havana’s Plaza de la Revolución.

On this same stage, Carlos Manuel Álvarez has appeared as director of the “independent” media outlet El Estornudo, who, on social networks, has orchestrated pretentious attacks the work of Cuban doctors abroad, as well as that of Che and Fidel.

Others linked to this supposedly blander counterrevolution are Omara Ruiz Urquiola, former professor at the Superior Institute of Design, a participant in the San Isidro farce who maintains relations with high ranking representatives of the U.S. government in Cuba; as well as journalist and former University of Havana professor, Elaine Díaz, currently living abroad, who has dedicated her efforts to recruiting young journalists and university students to poison their environments and thoughts.

Joining the list are Eliécer Ávila, a young Cuban living in the United States, who has declared on many occasions that he is committed to violence and the invasion of Cuba; and Ariel Ruiz Urquiola, active in the campaign to discredit Cuban doctors serving abroad on internationalist missions.

Also a part of this tendency is Rosa María Payá, representative of Miami’s right-wing anti-Cuba forces, who recently posted on her Twitter account: “First, for years I asked the Obama administration and then the Trump administration to put the Cuban regime back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism because it is the correct, the coherent, thing to do.”

To support the activity of these promoters of regime change in Cuba, a proliferation of media outlets has been developed, including Cibercuba, El Estornudo, Cubanet, El Toque and La Joven Cuba, among others.

“These are digital media created and sustained as part of a long-term operation implemented by the CIA in Cuba, to manufacture a press that, on the Internet, would generate political content deliberately toxic to the Revolution, under the façade of journalistic work,” states Gómez in his article.

Meanwhile, in the United States, organizations such as Usaid (U.S. Aid to International Development), the NED and the Open Society Foundation encourage the promotion of new counterrevolutionary leaders with contests and scholarships, as is the case with millionaire Yoani Sánchez, among others.

In other words, both the grotesque, pro-imperialist expression of the marginalized inside and outside Cuba, and the voices advancing a more elaborate discourse, are the same counterrevolution; some outdated, of less interest to their masters, and others more appropriate in new times, using an apparently more conciliatory tone, but with the same ultimate goal: overthrowing the Revolution.

US President Donald Trump is probably the biggest misinformation factor about COVID-19 , according to a Cornell University study, funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

A team from the Cornell Alliance for Science analyzed some 38 million articles published in English, between January 1 and May 26, 2020, in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as well as in some other countries in Africa and Asia.

Of these, more than 522,400 articles were identified with false information about the coronavirus , a phenomenon called an infodemic by the World Health Organization.

Likewise, the impact of these articles on social networks was calculated, with more than 36 million interactions, three-quarters on Facebook.

In total, eleven categories of false information were identified, from conspiracy theories – that the virus was created to create a new world order; that it is a biological weapon disseminated by a Chinese laboratory; that it is a disease linked to tycoon Bill Gates; that the virus was created to regulate the world’s population, among others – even miracle cures.

The latter were by far the most popular, with 295,351 articles, and Trump’s comments were responsible for a significant uptick in this category, particularly the possibility of a disinfectant injection to combat the disease, as he told a conference. release on April 24.

Similarly, there were similar peaks when he promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine, a treatment whose effectiveness has not been proven.

“Therefore, we concluded that the president of the United States was without a doubt the most important factor of misinformation” about COVID-19, the researchers noted.

“If people receive misleading information through unscientific and unsubstantiated reports about the disease, they may be less likely to follow official recommendations and spread the virus further,” said Sarah Evanega, who led the study.

“One of the most interesting aspects of the data collection was discovering the impressive amount of false information directly related to the statements of a small number of individuals,” said Jordan Adams, co-author of the research and data analyst at Cision Insight.

Indecency, despair and lack of scruples lead them to use the dirtiest and most heinous methods, to try to confuse. They have not been able and will not be able to with us, he wrote on his Twitter account, Ferro.

A campaign to discredit our judicial system, by the U.S. government and its mercenaries since the arrest of counter-revolutionary criminal José Daniel Ferrer, is shown to be unfounded. The truth of Cuba has once again shattered a campaign to discredit our country’s judicial system, unleashed by the U.S. government and its mercenaries, since the arrest of counter-revolutionary criminal José Daniel Ferrer García.

More strong evidence was presented in a February 7 report on Cuban television, with facts and testimony that were disseminated on social media, in the wake of the public outcry produced by the publishing of information, November 27, 2019, confirming Ferrer’s guilt in acts for which he is accused, and others.

LIES ABOUT CUBA EXPOSED

Cuban television repeated a previously screened video of Ferrer, in police custody, hitting his head on a table, making clear that the injuries he reported were self-inflicted, and occurred well after his arrest.

After the broadcast, enemies of the Revolution began to insist that the clip was staged, among these was the misnamed Television Marti. But, for some time now, evidence and testimony, from Cubans residing on the island and in the United States, has appeared to expose the counterrevolutionary.

Revealing was the video with statements by Abel López Pérez, a Cuban resident in the U. S. who questioned Ferrer’s conduct regarding the carrying of weapons. “Don’t tell me it’s a toy gun, and justify yourself saying it’s a toy gun. I repeat, take a toy gun out on a police officer here in the U.S. and see what his response will be,” he said.

Also shown on the television report were photos of Ferrer carrying a rifle.

Alejandro Hernández Real, also a resident of the United States, said: “Ah, it’s true that he has abused some people. It’s true that he has a dictator’s spirit. It’s true that he has gotten into trouble, common crimes, with people from his organization, people who have gone to demand money he owes them and has not paid. It’s no secret to anyone. I go back and say, where are the UNPACU people.

“You know why I don’t follow him, among other things, because how can he justify to me (what he does with) the $10,000 sent to him every month,” Hernández asks.

A shocking segment of the video shows a meeting between the delinquent José Daniel Ferrer García and members of his alleged organization, these with their faces covered. One was identified and the convincing testimony of his mother broadcast.

Solange Claramut, José Daniel Ferrer’s neighbor stated: “José Daniel, you also know that one of the hooded men who appeared on TV is my son Emmanuel, who you paid, through Aurora Sancho, to say that Cuban State Security had given him money, paid him, to beat you, which is a lie because you didn’t have any news. And then you cheated them and didn’t pay him the money.”

Abel Lopez Perez added, “When he ordered that a video of one or two minutes be made in all of the country’s province, sent the coordinators to make a one-minute video, take out a sign, scream on a corner, and hide right away, then edit it and sell it as a demonstration of the Patriotic Union of Cuba in all of Cuba – UNPACU.”

Roberto García Cabrejas, a U.S. resident, questions Ferrer’s conduct in achieving his counter-revolutionary objectives: “The Revolution is not brought down by crazily hitting your head on a table, even a revolutionary table.”

Abel López ironically stated that Ferrer could win an award for that move, “I would give him the acting prize. A tremendous performance, worthy of an Oscar.” While the young Hernández joked with the idea that they might come out of the cell carrying a body. “But no way, yeah, I knew, no way. Many of you believed it. Many of you thought: poor guy, he’s gone missing, this and that. And they were going to see the guy, taking him canned fruit and the whole story. You need to take a minute. You need to stop.”

WHO DIRECTS THIS SHOW?

Of course, the staging is directed from the United States in the most malicious style of theater. The puppets or main characters continue to be Luis Almagro, secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS); U.S. Senator Marco Rubio; Mara Tekach, chargé d’affaires at the U.S. embassy in Havana; Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart, Congressmen and members of the anti-Cuban community in Miami. All have long records of taking action against Cuba and promote the discourse that Ferrer is an innocent victim. The most recent figure to take the stage is Morgan Ortagus, U.S. State Department spokesperson: “Today I join the multiple voices that are requesting the freedom of human rights defender José Daniel Ferrer throughout the world, 100 days after his arrest at the hands of the Castro regime.”

The television material noted that funds are needed to lead a counter-revolutionary group. And to play this part, a producer appeared, as if by magic, one who believes Cuba is incapable of charting its own path: Rosa María Paya Acevedo, a fabricated human rights leader.

It is no accident that she made a recent appearance in Bolivia, sympathizing with the de facto government headed by self-proclaimed President Jeanine Áñez, who announced, hours after the visit, the suspension of diplomatic relations with Cuba.

“A short tour to only Bolivia and Uruguay, that had a huge impact,” Payá boasted, “The first, the most significant, is that today the constitutional government of Bolivia, the government of President Jeanine Áñez, has announced that she is breaking off relations (with Cuba).”

With the mounting of a pressure campaign to win impunity for Ferrer, the pockets of the OAS are filled, along with those of unscrupulous parliamentarians, other international organizations, and lackeys who continue to live off U.S. taxpayer’s money. In spite of this, there are always voices that defend the truth, in these same settings.

The Cuban television report also featured recorded statements by European Parliament deputy, Manuel Pineda Marín, who stated during a discussion raised by Ferrer supporters: “Today you bring us a text in which you manipulate the detention and judicial prosecution, with all appropriate guarantees, of a delinquent, accused of kidnapping, and with a long criminal record… including beating his ex-wife, 36 weeks pregnant.”

Ferrer’s neighbor, Aurora Sancho, offered her version of this specific event: “Ferrer beat up Belkis Cantillo and locked her in a room, giving her food like in a jungle. I knew him from what Belkis Cantillo said, and from people who went in there and talked about it.”

HARD EVIDENCE

The evidence exists, witnesses have testified, and now Jose Daniel Ferrer Garcia is being prosecuted, with all legal guarantees in place, for crimes involving physical harm and confinement of Cuban citizen Sergio Garcia Gonzalez.

The television report discredits another media campaign, attempting to promote the counter-revolutionary group which presumes to call itself the Patriotic Union of Cuba. Broadcast were statements by citizen Domingo Duvalón Hurtado, who falsely claimed to have been injured by the National Revolutionary Police in a plot concocted by Ferrer, who paid 10 CUC for his services.

In this respect, Duvalón stated: “You see, all this right here,” pointing to the bandaging covering his upper torso and one arm, “This was a farce, proving that Jose Daniel is a liar,” and waving in front of the cameras the 10 CUC bill the mercenary Ferrer gave him.

Another familiar face was aired on the television report, that of Ana Olema Hernandez, who, after she was identified as the person who financed vandalism of José Martí memorials, said she had nothing to do with that matter.

A video was aired that has already been circulating on social media, in which Ana Olema and Panter, one of the vandals who defaced the busts of Martí, are seen together.

It was reported that Ana Olema is also associated with Ferrer, as they are wolves of the same pack, but described him as a criminal, who cannot swallow his own story and is receiving humane treatment without stagings.

The television announcer pointed out that, as the judicial process against these

criminal elements advances, some are being pampered by counterrevolutionary supporters and the others receive only crumbs, adding, “Every action is a media event in a fake fight for human rights and the supposed freedom of a people.

“The United States, as the world’s most aggressive power, has tried everything against Cuba. The cause of figures like José Daniel Ferrer García are left without arguments in the face of very serious facts and truths,” the announcer e concluded.

“The truth must not remain unsaid,” said José Martí. Cuba presents its truth to the world, with hard evidence, exposing another campaign of lies from the United States government and its mercenaries.

NBC NEWS AND MSNBC SPECIALIZE in repeating and disseminating what U.S intelligence officials tell them to say and then calling that servitude “reporting.” Those two networks really are the all-but-official outlets for CIA messaging. And this status has led their brightest on-air stars to broadcast a series of extremely consequential stories that turned out to be humiliatingly wrong.

MSNBC used this scary story to have one of its “analysts” – a former Bush/Cheney national security official – declare that “the Cold War never ended for many in the Cuban government, including parts of the Russian government, including President Putin.” That the U.S. is in a New Cold War – or never left the last one – is clearly a prevailing orthodoxy among prominent U.S. media figures; just this week Washington Post columnist Anne Appelbaum, invoked classic Cold War clichés to declare that “Moscow may be on the cusp of becoming, once again, a full-fledged imperial capital, absorbing and ruling over multiple countries.”

It’s bad enough to be so reckless with such dangerous rhetoric. But when this is all accomplished through the shoddiest of “reporting” – mindlessly repeating what anonymous intelligence officials tell journalists to say without a whiff of evidence – then it’s clear that the same journalistic pathologies that led to front-page reports of Saddam’s nuclear stockpile and alliance with Osama bin Laden continue to shape corporate journalism today, particularly at NBC and MSNBC.
