First on the day’s agenda was a meeting with the President of the Supreme People’s Assembly Presidium, Kim Yong Nam, where Díaz-Canel commented, “Relations between Cuba and the DPRK are historic, and based on mutual respect.”

Next he visited Kim Il-sung University, established in 1946.

Díaz-Canel reported that during his discussion with the country’s President on Sunday, cooperation between Cuba and the DPRK in the areas of tourism, education, and public health was discussed.

The Cuban delegation was bid farewell with a spectacular gymnastics performance, which included the projection of images of Fidel with Kim Il-sung, and Raúl with Kim Jong-il, as well as DÍaz-Canel and Jim Jong-un, that drew extended applause.
