				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-11354" alt="27535323_542600759439214_247813046_o" src="/files/2018/02/27535323_542600759439214_247813046_o.jpg" width="300" height="250" />The Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Slovenia, H.E Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios had meetings with the highest authorities of this country: President, Borut Pahor; Prime Minister, Miro Cerar; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karl Erjavec and other representatives of the State and Government in the margins of the New Year´s reception held in the Congress Center of Ljubljana, the capital of the European country. It was a suitable opportunity to reaffirm the good state of the bilateral relations and the willingness to continue strengthening them.</p>
<p>The Cuban Ambassador took the opportunity to thank the Slovenian President for the congratulation message sent to the Army General Raúl Castro, President of the Council of States and Ministers on the occasion of the 59th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Similarly, His Excellency expressed the gratitude of the Cuban Government for the Slovenian support in the framework of the relations of Cuba with the European Union and the Resolution of the UN General Assembly which condemns the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.</p>
<p>The Cuban diplomat reiterated the invitations extended by the Government of Cuba to the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karl Erjavec and the Minister of Health, Milojka Kolar Celarc to perform official visits and participate in Cuba Salud 2018 International Conference, respectively.<br />
Cuba and Slovenia celebrated last year the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and they maintain the historical bonds of friendship and cooperation.<br />

<p>During the friendly encounter, the two leaders discussed the positive state of bilateral relations, celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, and their desire to gradually strengthen trade, economic and cooperation ties. They also addressed topics of mutual interest on the international agenda.</p>
<p>The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Helmut Freudenschuss, ambassador and diplomatic advisor to the Federal President; Andreas Schieder, chairman of the Austrian Social Democratic Party parliamentary group; Reinhold Lopatka, leader of the Austrian People&#8217;s Party parliamentary group, and Gerlinde Paschinger, Austrian ambassador to Cuba.</p>
<p>Participating on the Cuban side were Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a Council of Ministers vice president, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, ministers of Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade and Investment, respectively, as well as Yolanda Ferrer Gómez, director of International Relations of the National Assembly of People’s Power.</p>

The two undertook a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and the outlook for economic, commercial and financial relations between the two countries, considering the results of the Cuba-Austria Business Forum, held earlier that the day.</p>
<p>Both sides agreed that the implementation of the agreement signed between the governments of the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of Austria on the regulatory treatment of Cuban debt, as agreed in the context of negotiations held with the Paris Club ad hoc group, represented an important contribution to the proposed common objectives of both countries.</p>
<p>The bilateral agreement was signed by Council of Ministers Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas on behalf of the government of the Republic of Cuba, and the Director General of the Austrian Control Bank, Dr. Rudolf Scholten, acting on behalf of the government of the Republic of Austria.</p>
<p>Accompanying Scholten were Dr. Christoph Matznetter, vice president of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Walter Koren, deputy director general of the Federation of Austrian Industrialists, among other members of the Austrian delegation.</p>
<p>Participating on the Cuban side were Arnaldo Alayón and Isaac Hernández, vice president and director of the Central Bank of Cuba, respectively; Aleida González Mexidor, vice president of the National Bank of Cuba, and Yamila Fernández del Busto, director general of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, among other officials.</p>
