An example of what can be done with limited resources, as President Raúl Castro noted during his February visit, the program is offering a variety of options for all age groups.

Manuel Falcón, vice president of the provincial Administrative Council, reported that more than 300 institutions, state facilities, and private venues are providing a broad range of cultural events, restaurant service, recreation, sports, and fairs, with quality efforts focused on ensuring the quality of offerings.

The Plaza de Marte will feature a food fair in adjacent streets with chocolate, ice cream, coffee, wine, sweets, fruit and vegetables. The main square will host a variety of artistic expressions, and the reopening of the entirely refurbished Hiroshima judo academy will be celebrated.

Additional recreational activities are scheduled along the city’s emblematic Enramadas Street, and the recently completed Paseo Marítimo, a promenade along the bay with a beautiful view of the ocean and the Sierra Maestra mountains.

Lázaro Expósito, Party Central Committee member; Iris Quiñones, first Party secretary in the province and president its food industry enterprise group; and Reinaldo García, president of Santiago’s provincial government.
